Easy Homemade Pasta (No Special Flour Needed)
There’s something incredibly satisfying about making pasta from scratch. With just a few simple ingredients—flour, eggs, olive oil, and salt—you can create fresh pasta that tastes so much better than anything from a box.
The best part? You don’t need fancy ingredients. Even regular all-purpose flour works perfectly, which means you can make fresh pasta with what you probably already have in your kitchen.
Once you try homemade pasta, you’ll see how simple the process actually is. The dough comes together in minutes, and after a short rest it rolls out beautifully into silky noodles ready for your favorite sauce.
Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 3 large eggs
• ½ teaspoon sea salt
• ½ tablespoon olive oil
• Water (only if needed)
Instructions
1. Make the flour well Place the flour on a clean counter or in a large bowl. Create a well in the center and add the eggs, olive oil, and salt.
2. Mix the dough Use a fork to whisk the eggs and slowly pull flour from the edges into the center. Continue mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
3. Knead the dough Using your hands, knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If it feels too dry, add a few drops of water.
4. Let the dough rest Wrap the dough tightly in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. This relaxes the gluten and makes the dough easier to roll.
5. Roll the pasta Divide the dough into smaller pieces. Roll each piece thin using a pasta machine or a rolling pin.
6. Cut your noodles Cut the sheets into your desired shape—fettuccine, pappardelle, or simple rustic noodles.
7. Cook the pasta Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta for 1–3 minutes, until tender.
Fresh pasta is one of those recipes that looks fancy but is surprisingly simple. Once you get the feel for the dough, you’ll be able to whip it up anytime you want a cozy, homemade meal.
