Step 1 – Prepare Your Pan: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will make it easy to lift and break your bark later.
Step 2 – Melt the Chocolate: Place your chocolate candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second intervals, stirring after each burst until smooth. Spread it evenly on the parchment paper using a spatula. Chill for about 10–15 minutes until set.
Step 3 – Melt the White Chocolate: In a clean bowl, melt the white candy melts or almond bark the same way — short bursts in the microwave, stirring often. If you’d like a stronger peppermint flavor, add the peppermint extract and mix well.
Step 4 – Spread and Sprinkle: Pour the melted white chocolate over your set dark chocolate layer. Use a spatula to smooth it out evenly. While it’s still warm, sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top and gently press them in so they stick.
Step 5 – Chill and Break: Place the baking sheet in the fridge for 15–20 minutes, or until firm. Once it’s set, lift the bark off the parchment and break it into large festive pieces.
Storage: Keep your peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate it for up to three weeks. It also freezes beautifully if you want to make it ahead for holiday gifting!
Tips for Success: • Use high-quality candy melts for a smooth finish. • Want to make it extra cute? Swirl red food coloring into the white chocolate before it sets for a candy-cane-striped look! • Peppermint bark looks lovely in small treat bags tied with ribbon — perfect for teacher gifts, party favors, or Christmas cookie trays.
This peppermint bark is festive, delicious, and practically foolproof — the perfect way to spread a little joy this season. 🎅✨
